SAATHII, a non-government organization founded in 2000, works to strengthen the capacities of individuals and organizations working on HIV/AIDS in India through information dissemination, networking, advocacy, research and technical assistance services.
It is known for innovative and multi-sectoral initiatives in the HIV/AIDS field. SAATHII is registered as a tax-exempt charitable trust with offices in Chennai (head office), Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kanur (field office) and Bhubaneswar (field office).
Job Description:
SAATHII is looking for a suitable individual for its Documentation Assistant (DA) - Orissa position, which requires a broad, continuously updated knowledge of current health and development issues (particularly HIV/AIDS, gender, sexuality, human rights and reproductive health), issues concerning people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), and demonstrated experience and skills in process documentation of events, consultations and training workshops.
Knowledge about current HIV/AIDS scenario in Orissa, latest developments in HIV/AIDS treatment, HIV/AIDS advocacy and networking, report writing and compilation of relevant information will be essential requirements.
The principal role of the Documentation Assistant (DA) - Orissa will be to assist the Training and Advocacy Coordinator (TAC) -Orissa in data compilation, report writing, preparation of concept notes, literature review and data dissemination and also assist in capacity building of partner agencies of SAATHII that work with sexual minorities and PLWHA in Orissa .
The Documentation Assistant (DA) - Orissa will report to the Training & Advocacy Coordinator – Orissa, SAATHII. The location will be Bhubaneswar and travel will be needed to districts where SAATHII’s partner agencies function.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
1. Strong knowledge base and messaging skills vis-à-vis HIV/AIDS, gender, sexuality, human rights, reproductive health issues.
2. At least three years of experience in HIV/AIDS related work in India, including programme implementation, reporting and financial, logistics and office management.
3. Proven skills in reporting, documentation and office management.
4. Experience in working with NGOs, government agencies, corporate bodies, and bilateral and multi-lateral agencies.
5. Graduation or higher degree from a recognized university preferably in social sciences.
6. Proficiency in English, Hindi, and Oriya languages.
7. Sound computer skills (including use of Internet and Microsoft Office software).
8. Ability to work independently and as a team player in a complex, multicultural environment, with demonstrated communication, presentation and reporting skills.
People living with HIV, women candidates, and individuals belonging to other vulnerable groups are encouraged to apply.
Monthly professional fee / salary: Around Rs.7000/- .
