Solidarity and Action Against the HIV Infection in India (SAATHII), a registered non-profit organization, was founded with a vision to stabilize and reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in India and ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS receive un-stigmatized, affordable and quality care, support and treatment. Headquartered in Chennai, it has branch offices at Kolkata and Hyderabad, and field offices at Karur, Tamilnadu, Bhadrak Bhubhaneshwar, Orissa and Jaipur, Rajasthan (will be opened in February of 2008).
Position Summary
SAATHII has a vacancy for a Director Position to be located in Hyderabad, to Lead and Expand Programs in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. SAATHII is looking for an individual with an experience in leading large HIV/AIDS care, support and treatment and prevention programs.
Reports to: President and the Board of Trustees
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
* Lead existing programs in the state of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra (Andhra Pradesh Family Care Continuum Program, Coordination of EGPAF Funded PMTCT Program in Four High Prevalence States and USAID/FHI Funded SAMARTH Program). Leading entails technical, programmatic and financial oversight of all the programs along with respective Program Managers and mentorship to the entire program staff located in Hyderabad Office.
* Expand new programs in the State of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra in the areas of Family Care Continuum Services, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission, Health System Strengthening, Decentralized Care, Mainstreaming of HIV with other Health and Development Programs and Prevention among street children, prisoners and rural youth.
* Facilitate inter-office and intra-office cross sharing.
* Build required technical and managerial capacity among program staff located in SAATHII-Hyderabad office.
* Work closely with the President and the Country Directors as part of senior management team on SAATHII's governance, management and development.
* Support the development of employees that results in improved performance.
* Create and maintain a work environment that builds talent to ensure the continuity of leadership for the organization
* Create and sustain an environment which supports decision making and accountability at all levels in SAATHII-Hyderabad office.
* Exhibit personal and professional integrity at all times, consistent with the organization's mission, vision and principle.
Qualifications
The requirements below are representative of knowledge, skill and /or abilities required
Knowledge:
§ A recognized Degree (MBBS/MD/Ph.D/MPH/) in Medicine, Public Health or Social Science. Management graduates with Public Health or Social Sciences will also be considered.
§ At least ten years of experience in management of HIV/AIDS programs with specific reference to care, support and treatment programs.
§ In-depth knowledge of National AIDS Control Policy III.
§ In-depth knowledge of HIV/AIDS scenario in the state of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra and familiarity with HIV/AIDS scenario in Karnataka and Tamilnadu.
§ In-depth understanding of Public and Private Health Care Systems in India.
Skills
§ Managing Large HIV/AIDS Programs.
§ Developing Large Grants.
§ Developing Technical Reports.
§ Sound computer skills (including use of Internet and Microsoft Office software).
§ Excellent Oral and Written Communication skills.
§ Skilled in managing and interacting with a staff of different cultural and demographic backgrounds.
