The focus of this year's Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) was somewhat altered by the special session devoted to a case of multidrug-resistant HIV-1 with rapid disease progression found recently in New York. Nonetheless, other topics also attracted much attention. Among them, HIV and hepatitis viruses coinfections continue to be a leading area of interest. In fact, 53 abstracts on this topic were presented this year.
