SAATHII E-Forums are discussion forums for professionals working on prevention, care, support, treatment and planning/policy related to HIV/AIDS in India. Most forums are publicly viewable but require registration to post.

  • You need not be a registered user to read messages on any of the current forums except the ART-Doctors' forum.
  • The ART-Doctors' forum alone requires registered users to subscribe to read or post messages.
1. Anti-retroviral therapy - Doctors' Forum: For discussion amongst doctors involved in prescribing ART to people living with HIV/AIDS. Relevant topics include discussion of cases and non-clinical issues pertaining to patient management. Only registered & approved users can post and view this forum. Physicians desirous of joining this forum click here.

2. Gender and Sexuality: For discussion on gender,
sex, sexuality, behaviour, orientation, and relevant issues in sexual health. Anyone can read messages on this forum. However to post messages or reply to an existing message, you have to be a registered user.

3. HIV and Nutrition: Forum for those assessing, planning and/or providing for nutrition needs of PLHIV. Topics can include nutritional management, assessment, food handling, simple recipes, food-drug interactions, pediatric nutrition, etc. Anyone can read messages on this forum. However to post messages or reply to an existing message, you have to be a registered user.

4. HIV Program Communication: Forum for discussion on and development of IEC, behaviour change communication and other materials, reviews and critiques of existing materials (brochures, media campaigns, advertisements, slogans) developed for India. Anyone can read messages on this forum. However to post messages or reply to an existing message, you have to be a registered user.

5. HIV_AIDS Counsellors' Forum: For counselors and social workers working with clients in pre-test, post-test and follow-up context. Counseling on nutrition, treatment adherence, couples (including sero-discordant couples) and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) issues, are all relevant topics for discussion. Anyone can read messages on this forum. However to post messages or reply to an existing message, you have to be a registered user.

6. Home Based Care: For institutions and individuals involved in providing home-based care to people living with HIV/AIDS.
Anyone can read messages on this forum. However to post messages or reply to an existing message, you have to be a registered user.

7. Infected, Affected and Vulnerable Children: For discussion on issues pertaining to care, and support of affected children (including orphans), treatment of infected children and prevention among vulnerable children. Topics can include estimation, pediatric AIDS, educational support, etc. Anyone can read messages on this forum. However to post messages or reply to an existing message, you have to be a registered user.

8. Legal Issues: For discussing legal rights of HIV positive people and marginalised/ vulnerable populations, advocacy efforts to modify discriminatory sections of the Indian Constitution (e.g. Section 377), law enforcement issues, legal options to redress discrimination in workplace, educational, and health-care settings. Anyone can read messages on this forum. However to post messages or reply to an existing message, you have to be a registered user.

9. Prevention: For discussion among service-providers and capacity-building agencies involved in prevention interventions. Those working on focused/targeted interventions with at-risk groups as well as with the general population are invited to join this forum.

10. SAATHII General Forum: For general-purpose discussion on HIV/AIDS in India. It differs from the saathii@yahoogroups.com listserv which is primarily for information and not for discussion. Anyone can read messages on this forum. However to post messages or reply to an existing message, you have to be a registered user.

11. UNGASS India Review: For updates on the 2006 United Nations General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) proceedings on HIV/AIDS, as they pertain to India and rest of the Asia-Pacific.
