As part of its mission
to build the capacity of HIV/AIDS service providers, SAATHII offers courses
and skill-building workshops to partner NGOs, State AIDS Control Societies
and other agencies. Three types of courses and training programs are offered:
Courses organized
by SAATHII at its office premises or training institute campuses in
Chennai or Calcutta, to which NGOs are invited to participate.
Training programs
conducted by SAATHII on request by another NGO or government agency,
and organized by that agency, usually offered on site. Such programs
can be customized to the needs of that agency, preceded by formal needs
assessment.
E-trainings offered
through lecture modules disseminated via the website or email, with
discussions and question-answer sessions via chat sessions and dedicated
listservs.
SAATHII's in-house
training capacity includes such areas as proposal writing, biostatistics
and research methods, documentation, program monitoring and evaluation,
gender & sexuality, STD/HIV prevention, models of HIV/AIDS care, clinical
management of HIV/AIDS, home and community based care for PLWHA, networking,
social and operational research, peer education, organisational management,
strategy development, advocacy, legal and ethical issues around HIV/AIDS,
stigma and discrimination, leadership development and behaviour change
